Description
This test assesses metabolic factors associated with metabolic syndrome (metS) and type II diabetes. The test includes cystatin C creatinine and eGFR to assess renal damage. Cystatin C offers a better assessment of glomerular filtration than serum creatinine or eGFR alone. 1,5-anhydroglucitol (Glycomark®), which indicates frequent hyperglycemic events over the past two weeks, gives a better indication of hyperglycemic episodes than HbA1C., which estimates average blood glucose concentration over the past 3 months. The primary adipokines associated with insulin sensitivity and hepatic fatty acid metabolism are also assessed.
