Simple & efficient lab testing for health professionals.

Lab guide: Cyrex Labs

What makes Cyrex Labs unique?

Cyrex Labs is the world’s leading functional immunology lab specialising in environmentally induced autoimmunity.

What area of testing does Cyrex Labs specialise in?

The Cyrex System encompasses ELISA assessment of the immune barriers such as the gut and the blood brain barrier, the environmental triggers of autoimmunity including pathogens, foods and toxic chemicals, and auto-antibodies.

The Cyrex Systems helps you understand why essential barriers, environmental triggers and predictive autoantibodies are affecting patients' immunophenotypes.

  • Determine the underlying causes of your patients' immune condition
  • Identify barrier integrity
  • Isolate and remove environmental factors
  • Implement patient specific healthy lifestyle choices
  • Support immune resilience

How and why is Cyrex Labs a leader in autoimmunity testing?

The technical, laboratory answer to this question is that quality in every Array is of critical importance when testing each patient’s specimen. We ensure we deliver this through the below:

  • Purity of antigens: a test is only as good as the purity of it’s antigen!  Optimising this process eliminates false positive and false negatives. Cyrex uses advanced extraction and purifying techniques to ensure the purity and homogeneity of the antigens that coat the plates.

  • Individualized validation of every single antigen: the painstaking process of individual validation requires years of research and development to perfect. To achieve Cyrex quality, we validate each food antigen individually, rather than applying one arbitrarily chosen reference curve to an entire group of different foods.

  • Parallel testing: standard procedure is labs around the world is to test a percentage of their specimens in duplicate for quality control. At Cyrex, we believe that each single person deserves to trust their results are accurate and so every single specimen is tested in parallel. Only when each marker has been verified will the reports be reported.

  • Patient-centred: beyond the clinical science, Cyrex understands that what is at stake with autoimmune disease is people’s quality of life. We’re talking about years of pain and suffering, of time spent with children and grandchildren, of achieving someone’s life goals and fulfilment of dreams. We are committed to not just providing accurate, reliable test results that can be relied on to support you, the clinicians, in achieving optimal results in clinical practice, but Cyrex has also broken ground and changed the global conversation around how we think about and understand the individual with Autoimmune disease.

What is Cyrex Labs' founding story?

Cyrex was founded in 2011. Our scientific team is comprised of experts from a variety of medical and research disciplines, which bring together the latest findings from medical research and the assessment needs of today’s healthcare professionals.

Out of this collaboration, the company formed and Cyrex Lab's developed the next generation of clinical lab testing that is required to care for present-day complex maladies.

What lab processes do you have in place to ensure that your tests are accurate, reliable and consistent?

Quality assurance is so important to our company, that we pride ourselves on the 4 Pillars, as above, as the bedrock of everything we do.

What national legislation does Cyrex Labs operate under?

Cyrex is CLIA certified in the state of Arizona, and is also licensed by the state of California to perform laboratory testing. Cyrex participates in CLIA approved proficiency testing methodologies assuring that the highest quality procedures and regulatory compliance are maintained within the laboratory. Cyrex follows the federal guidelines for the development of its laboratory assays in order to provide reliable and accurate results.

Congress passed the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) in 1988, establishing quality standards for all laboratory testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of patient test results regardless of where the test is performed.

Where is Cyrex Labs based?

Cyrex Lab's laboratory is located in Phoenix, Arizona. USA, and their HQ is in Irvine, California.

What are your labs 3 most popular or cutting edge tests?

The Multiple Food Immune Reactivity Screen (Array 10)

The Multiple Food Immune Reactivity Screen (Array 10) evaluates immune reactions to 180 raw, cooked or modified foods, lectins, aquaporins and artificial food additives, including meat glue, colorings, and gums.

Pathogen-Associated Immune Reactivity Screen (PAIRS)

Pathogen-Associated Immune Reactivity Screen (PAIRS) identifies an individual's response to specific pathogens that increase susceptibility to developing autoimmune reactions.

Multiple Autoimmune Reactivity Screen (Array 5)

Multiple Autoimmune Reactivity Screen (The Array 5) from Cyrex Laboratories assesses autoantibodies predictive for certain diseases. It determines potential tissue damage in various body organs, including cardiovascular, endocrine, joint, gastrointestinal, and neurological.

Have any notable clinical figures, bodies or publishers advocated using Cyrex Labs?

Dr Datis Kharrazian uses Cyrex panels in his clinical practice to better understand the environmental influence of the autoimmune disease found in his patients.

Datis also teaches about Cyrex panels in his highly esteemed practitioner education platform, The Kharrazian Institute. He is probably one of the world’s most recognisable clinicians and autoimmune disease educators.

Datis has been teaching Functional Medicine for nearly 20 years to thousands of healthcare professionals throughout the United States and Europe and has multiple professorial appointments at universities in the USA.

Do you have any positive testimonials’ about your lab from practitioners and patients?

“As a practitioner of functional medicine, Cyrex tests have been a great asset in helping the complicated web of figuring out immune dysfunction. When there is a need to understand triggers to any pathology or possible solution to changing immune dysfunction, it is my go-to lab when routine labs are not enough. In addition, knowing the quality, accuracy and consistency of Cyrex labs gives me great confidence I’m getting the best results.”
John Ennen, DC

"I wanted to reach out and let you, and everybody else at Cyrex, that I feature your company prominently multiple times, in my new book, that just hit the shelves last week. I give descriptions of the type of testing Cyrex does, mention specific tests, contact information and overall make the case that you guys are the single best format for not only detecting autoimmunity but several other terribly important things. I highly suspect that it will bring even more customers and doctors your way. It has always been such a pleasure to work with you in finding answers for our patients and I am glad to share your gift with a greater audience."
Chris Chlebowski, DC

Why did Cyrex Labs choose to partner with Regenerus labs to provide UK practitioners access to your services?

Michelle Clark, Vice President Worldwide Sales at Cyrex Labs

"When choosing a partner for international distribution, Regenerus was the obvious choice.

Regenerus' focus on practitioner education and the high standards they set for the tests they choose to partner with means we feel confident that the practitioners using our tests in the UK, Irelend and the EU will be supported in the decision making around test selection and also in appropriate interpretation of the tests, so that these practitioners in turn can use Cyrex panels for optimal outcomes in their clinical practice."
